At the age of 42, Aminah decided to go through IVF using an anonymous
 donor, after she tragically lost her two young sons Marlon and Louis 
(at just 14 weeks and 14 months respectively), due to a genetic disorder
 called x-linked myotubular myopathy.</div>

Leila on August 14, 2012, but, as she herself had grown up without a

Luckily, Scott had told the fertility clinic that he was willing to 
meet a child born from his sperm. On August 18, 2013, a year after their

"It was much easier than I’d anticipated. I was nervous … I was 
walking in to meet a complete stranger and I had his genetic child in my
 arms," Aminah says.<br />

Their daughter Leila was a flower girl, although she initially wasn’t

For advertising executive Aminah, it was a day to cherish after 
years of struggling to overcome the death of her two young sons. She had

I’m 36 and single, which means I’ve dated (and, unfortunately, broken up
 with) a number of men. After each breakup, many, many people have told 
me that the person I broke up with is missing out.<br />
This sentence has never made me feel better. Not even for a single 
second. I always want to say, “I don’t care if he’s missing out. I’m 
missing out right now.”<br />
Even if the other person made a mistake or took me for granted or 
wasn’t long-term relationship material, and even if I’ll be better off 
without him in the long run, for now, I’m the one who no longer has a 
plus-one for the wedding next month or a date to the symphony or a 
vacation buddy or a dinner partner or someone to have intimate 
conversations with.<br />
I’m the one who’s missing out.<br />
